4 Reasons Why You May Need a Life Coach, Sis.

The consensus is that the last 2 years have been the worst years ever for us, and by us, I mean Black people in America. We were forced to sit and stew in our anger and grief over Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd while surviving a pandemic that disproportionately impacted our lives. COVID-19 and white domestic terrorism has been at the forefront of our lives, but Black people are resilient. We find moments of joy in the worst of times; we innovate when resources are limited. We are the true masters of invention and re-invention. That is why seeking a life coach may be the next best avenue to unleashing your greatness or taking it to the next level. We must create change within, but it can be challenging. Hiring a life coach can help you prepare for, confront, and surmount those challenges. To truly live your best life, you may need a coach to assist you with:

  1. Focusing

Whether it’s building new habits, narrowing down a career, or determining your next steps, a life coach can help you eliminate and prioritize. Change can feel overwhelming when you have don’t know where to begin or if your beliefs about who you should be are based on the ideas of others. If you need to zone it on what matters most, you may need a life coach.

2. Accountability

If you have a list of goals and an extensive list of reasons (hmmm, excuses) for why you haven’t completed most of them, a coach can provide accountability until you can hold yourself accountable. If you were the student in class who needed the teacher or your parent to check that you were on task, you might need a life coach.

3. Encouragement

Most of us tend to do better when someone is cheering in our corner. Some of us have whole cheering sections, but others may be lacking the reassurance needed to take gain and maintain momentum when motivation ceases. Whether it’s in the form of a gentle nudge or a pep talk, if you want to keep on moving, you may need a life coach.

4. Support

Even if you have people who consistently show up, sometimes making changes can leave a person feeling vulnerable and afraid. A life coach can help you unpack some of those thoughts and help you reframe them. If you want confidential, impartial support, you may need a life coach.
