Black Women Unchained
One of the most challenging aspects of being free is the response you receive from others. In fact, other people’s judgment and condemnation are often why so many people put off “unchaining” themselves. The hesitancy is warranted because racism, patriarchy, and tradition will make you feel compelled to follow suit, stay in line, and stunt your own growth for others’ comfort. Being free is costly, especially when you are a Black woman.
